The vision of Holy Ground Counseling is to see clients find more healing, wholeness, and strength while facing their stories and heartaches. Every person’s story is holy ground and deserves to be met with empathetic support and evidence-based care.

Our mission is to provide Old Monroe and surrounding areas with professional therapeutic support, honoring clients’ stories and experiences while assisting them to grow into more-healed versions of themselves. 

Holy Ground Counseling is founded by Abigail Ortego, MA, LPC. She is a 2021 graduate from Lindenwood University with a Masters in Professional Counseling. After spending the last 5 years working with clients in St. Charles County, she felt the call to return to Lincoln County where she grew up.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor who is also a Christian, Abby established the name of the practice to honor both her faith and many client stories from over her years of practice. She welcomes all faith backgrounds (including those with no interest) and is happy to support individuals, couples, and families in their work towards healing.

Abby’s overall desire is to sit with clients on their worst and best days and support them in their journeys toward knowing themselves more confidently and fully.
